After experiencing a number of accidents on site, a mid sized construction
company contacted HSE Solutions to assess the health and safety
procedures on their many building sites.
HSE Solutions visited a selection of sites to conduct safety
inspections and found that a number of simple safety procedures
were not being administered by the site managers nor adhered
to by the site workers. Irregular generic risk assessments,
rather than site specific risk assessments were being carried
out by site managers, which meant that checks on scaffolding
and safety were often insufficient. Our team were able to
provide guidance on how to improve and standardise the checks
and their document management procedures.
Our team also provided training to site managers to enable
them to better understand how risk management fits into their
daily duties and how their actions could protect both themselves
and their employer's assets. This resulted in improved worker
and public safety and improved external stakeholder perceptions
of the business, and eventually in reduced incidents and claims.
